Neumz is proud to be among the sponsors of the 2025 Gregorian Chant Session, which will take place at the Abbey of Saint-Pierre of Solesmes from July 6 to July 11, 2025. This annual gathering offers a unique opportunity for musicians, scholars, and enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the practice and study of Gregorian chant at the very abbey where the tradition was revived by Dom Guéranger over 150 years ago.
Organized by the Abbey of Saint Peter of Solesmes in collaboration with the Association Musicologie Médiévale, the session focuses on the fundamentals of Gregorian chant, including psalmody, modality, the interplay of text and melody, and the spiritual depth of the liturgical tradition.
Neumz is especially pleased that several members of our team are actively participating as instructors this year:
- Dominique Crochu will present an innovative approach to modality, offering new insights into B-flat and the challenges of melodic restitution.
- Dominique Gatté, an expert in chant and early music manuscripts, will share his deep knowledge of paleography and notation.
- Matthias Bry will contribute his expertise in chant performance and teaching.
- Manuel Alberto Díaz-Blanco, director of Neumz and known for his commentary on Gregorian composition and the spirituality of the Gregorian repertoire, will also be among the teachers.
This year’s session will include a special course entirely in English and a rich program of daily liturgy, theoretical and practical workshops, and in-depth explorations of Gregorian chant’s history and spirituality.
